My kick pedal is probably a decade past it’s best so I’m looking into replacing it. In the drummer Facebook groups I’m, people are using some pretty wild equipment (custom shop beaters, etc.) what’s your recommendation for a quick and smooth pedal? I know there isn’t a magic bullet so we’ll look at everything through the lens of individual preference. Thanks!!!
Hey there!
With individual preference in mind, here's some solid pedals I would recommend!
- Pearl Redline. Weighty feel, but insanely solid construction and well thought out features.
- Tama Speed Cobra. Lighter feel, but very well built. Probably the most "proven" pedal on the market. While no pedal is "faster" than another, this one certainly feels quick under the foot.
- DW 9000 or 5000. 9000 is one of the smoothest on the market, but very bulky. 5000 is easier to control, but not quite as buttery smooth.
Runner up would be the Mapex Falcon. Many have reported problems with it, but I rocked one for years and grew to love it. Very slim profile, and balanced feel all around.
Hope this helps!
That’s super helpful. I enjoy doing the research but it’s good to have somewhere to start. Thanks for your input!!!
